Quantities: a worked example

A 3 × 3.6 m room with one door has about 12.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 13.6 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Planed Timber & Mouldings: choosing well

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Getting planed timber onto your Shirley site

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Shirley is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• On busy streets in Shirley, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Your questions answered

Can I add other materials to my Shirley delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Shirley?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can you match an old skirting profile?

We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.
