Before you order planed timber

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Delivery to Solihull: what helps

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Solihull is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• On busy streets in Solihull, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Estimating your planed timber

A 3 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 11.6 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 12.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Planed Timber & Mouldings in Solihull: questions

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Can I add other materials to my Solihull delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Solihull?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
