Getting planed timber onto your Nelson site

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Nelson is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• In summer Nelson gets around 17h 07m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.

How much will you need?

A 3.4 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 12.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 13.6 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Picking the right product

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Planed Timber & Mouldings in Nelson: questions

Can I add other materials to my Nelson delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Nelson?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.
