Quantities: a worked example
A 4.2 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 14 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.4 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.
Delivery to Lancashire: what helps
Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Lancashire.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
- Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
Choosing planed timber
Matching old profiles
Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.
Nominal versus finished size
Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.
Questions about planed timber delivery in Lancashire
Do you sell MDF skirting?
Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.
Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Lancashire?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
How should I store planed timber?
Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
