Choosing screws and nails

Inside or outside?

Use galvanised, coated or stainless fixings outdoors and with treated timber, so they do not corrode.

Structural fixings

Joist hangers, straps and structural connections need the fixings the connector maker specifies.

Estimating your screws and nails

Fixing 10 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 350 drywall screws, or 1 box of 1,000.
