Things to check before you order
Colour consistency
Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.
Engineering Class A or B?
Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or the council's building standards service may specify one.
In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
How delivery works in Thurso
Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Thurso is in an area where deliveries are priced individually because of the distance and access, so we quote each order separately.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Bricks questions
Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Thurso?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
Do you deliver bricks to Thurso?
Yes. We deliver across Thurso, including KW14. Thurso is in an area where deliveries are priced individually because of the distance and access, so we quote each order separately. Send your list or call 0800 088 6341 and we will price it delivered to your postcode.
How many bricks are in a square metre?
With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.
Do you sell bricks in small quantities?
We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.
