Before your Ayrshire delivery arrives

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Ayrshire.

  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Choosing concrete blocks

Thickness

100 mm is the common inner-leaf thickness. Wider blocks (140, 190, 215 mm) are used for separating walls, single-skin garage walls and foundations.

Handling heavy blocks

Health and safety guidance discourages laying very heavy blocks by hand for long periods. Lighter blocks or planning the lift can make a big difference on site.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
