How delivery works in Argyll and Bute

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Across most of Argyll and Bute, deliveries are quoted individually because of the distance and access.

  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around G are priced to the exact address.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Before you order concrete blocks

Dense or aircrete?

Dense blocks are strong and good for sound separation but heavy; a 100 mm dense block can weigh around 20 kg. Aircrete blocks are much lighter and insulate better, which helps with energy targets, but need the right fixings.

Handling heavy blocks

Health and safety guidance discourages laying very heavy blocks by hand for long periods. Lighter blocks or planning the lift can make a big difference on site.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
