Damp Proofing & Membranes delivery in Ayrshire

Damp proofing materials stop moisture rising or passing through a building: a damp-proof course (DPC) in the walls and a damp-proof membrane (DPM) under the floor.

Across Ayrshire, from Kilmarnock to Prestwick, we supply damp proofing delivered to site with the price and date confirmed in writing.

Quantities: a worked example

An extension in Ayrshire with 36 m of cavity wall needs DPC in both leaves: about 3 rolls in 30 m lengths once laps are allowed for. A 50 m² floor slab needs about 57.5 m² of DPM including laps, which is 1 roll of 4 × 25 m sheeting.

Delivering damp proofing in Ayrshire

Rolls are light enough to travel with a mixed load and are handed off at the kerb. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Ayrshire.

  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • On busy streets in Ayrshire, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Things to check before you order

Is radon protection needed?

Parts of the UK need radon protection in new buildings and extensions. UKHSA radon maps show the areas; the council's building standards service will tell you what applies.

Laps and joints

DPM and DPC need generous laps and sealed joints; follow the manufacturer's guidance.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Common questions from Ayrshire

Do I need a radon barrier?

It depends on where you are. In radon-affected areas building standards require radon protection in new buildings and extensions.

Can you deliver damp proofing to a site with restricted access in Ayrshire?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

How thick should a DPM be?

1200-gauge polythene, around 300 microns, is a common specification for floor slabs. Your design may call for something different.

Can I add other materials to my Ayrshire delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from damp proofing to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
