Getting ballast and gravel onto your Tyne and Wear site

Bulk bags are usually lifted off by crane where access allows; tell us where they can sit and whether the ground is firm. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Tyne and Wear.

  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

All-in ballast is convenient for general concrete. For more control over the mix, use separate sharp sand and gravel.

20 mm gravel suits concrete and drainage layers; 10 mm and pea gravel suit bedding pipes and paths.
