Fixings & Tools

Anchors, Bolts & Threaded Rod

Anchors and bolts fix heavy items to concrete, brick and block: mechanical anchors expand in the hole, chemical (resin) anchors bond in it, and threaded rod and bolts make the connection.

We supply sleeve anchors, through bolts, concrete screws, resin anchoring kits, threaded rod, coach bolts and washers for fixing steel, timber and equipment to masonry.

Choosing anchors and bolts

Mechanical or resin?

Mechanical anchors suit solid concrete and dense masonry. Resin anchors suit heavy loads, close edges and hollow or weaker masonry with the right sleeves.

Structural fixings

For anything structural or safety-critical, such as a ledger carrying a floor or a balustrade, use anchors with a technical assessment and follow the design.

Edge distances

Every anchor has minimum edge distances and spacings; fixing too close to an edge can crack the masonry.

How it arrives on site

Boxed with the rest of your order. We agree the drop point and offload method when we price your order. Read more about how delivery works.

How much do you need?

As an illustration only: anchors at 600 mm centres along a 3.6 m ledger means 7 fixings. Structural fixings must follow your design, so send us the specified anchor and spacing and we will price it.

Anchors, Bolts & Threaded Rod: questions

What anchor should I use in hollow block?

Resin anchors with mesh sleeves, or anchors designed for hollow masonry. Standard expansion anchors may not hold.

What is threaded rod used for?

Making custom-length bolts, suspending services and, with resin, anchoring into masonry.

Do I need structural anchors for a ledger board?

Yes. A ledger carrying a deck or floor is structural; use anchors with a technical assessment and follow the design.

What is a European Technical Assessment?

An independent assessment of an anchor's performance, which designers use to specify fixings for structural loads.

How long does resin take to cure?

It depends on the product and temperature, from minutes to hours. The cartridge gives cure times.
