Things to check before you order

Structural fixings

Joist hangers, straps and structural connections need the fixings the connector maker specifies.

Inside or outside?

Use galvanised, coated or stainless fixings outdoors and with treated timber, so they do not corrode.

Getting screws and nails onto your Dumfries site

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Dumfries is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.

Working out quantities for your Dumfries job

Fixing 20 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 700 drywall screws, or 1 box of 1,000.
