Working out quantities for your Poole job

A 3.4 × 3.6 m room with one door has about 13.2 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 14.5 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Picking the right product

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Delivering planed timber in Poole

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Poole is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around BH15 are priced to the exact address.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Common questions from Poole

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Poole?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Poole?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
