Quantities: a worked example

Decking 18 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 7 sheets including 10% for cutting. In P5 chipboard flooring (2400 × 600 mm) the same floor takes 14 boards.

How delivery works in Edinburgh and the Lothians

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Edinburgh and the Lothians.

• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Cutting MDF safely

MDF dust is fine; cut with extraction and wear suitable respiratory protection.

Yes. Put everything on one list, from OSB, MDF and chipboard to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Edinburgh and the Lothians?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Is MDF waterproof?

No. Moisture-resistant MDF handles humid rooms better than standard MDF but must still be sealed and kept out of direct water.

What is OSB3?

OSB3 is oriented strand board graded for load-bearing use in humid conditions under BS EN 300. It is the common grade for floors, roofs and sheathing.
