Sizing your order
An extension in Alness with 36 m of cavity wall needs DPC in both leaves: about 3 rolls in 30 m lengths once laps are allowed for. A 30 m² floor slab needs about 34.5 m² of DPM including laps, which is 1 roll of 4 × 25 m sheeting.
Before your Alness delivery arrives
Rolls are light enough to travel with a mixed load and are handed off at the kerb. Alness is in an area where deliveries are priced individually because of the distance and access, so we quote each order separately.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
- Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
Picking the right product
Laps and joints
DPM and DPC need generous laps and sealed joints; follow the manufacturer's guidance.
Is radon protection needed?
Parts of the UK need radon protection in new buildings and extensions. UKHSA radon maps show the areas; the council's building standards service will tell you what applies.
In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
