CLS Studwork Timber: choosing well

Stud spacing

Studs are usually set at 400 mm or 600 mm centres to suit 1200 mm wide plasterboard.

Which size?

38 × 63 mm suits most partitions up to standard ceiling heights. 38 × 89 mm gives stiffer, taller walls and more room for insulation.

Before your Glenrothes delivery arrives

CLS travels in bundles alongside plasterboard and is easy to hand off at the kerb. Glenrothes is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Ordering CLS timber for Glenrothes: FAQs

Do you deliver CLS timber to trades and homeowners in Glenrothes?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

How many studs do I need?

Divide the wall length by the stud spacing (400 or 600 mm), add one, then add plates and noggins. Our plasterboard calculator gives the boards for the same wall.

What is the difference between CLS and planed timber?

CLS has rounded edges and is sized for studwork; planed all round timber has square edges and comes in many more sizes for joinery and trim.

Can you deliver CLS timber to a site with restricted access in Glenrothes?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
