Picking the right product

Which size?

38 × 63 mm suits most partitions up to standard ceiling heights. 38 × 89 mm gives stiffer, taller walls and more room for insulation.

Stud spacing

Studs are usually set at 400 mm or 600 mm centres to suit 1200 mm wide plasterboard.

Delivery to Bridgwater: what helps

CLS travels in bundles alongside plasterboard and is easy to hand off at the kerb. Bridgwater is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around TA6 are priced to the exact address.

Estimating your CLS timber

A 5.4 m partition 2.4 m high at 400 mm centres takes 15 CLS studs, 10.8 m of head and sole plate and a row of noggins, then boarding on both sides. Work out the boards too

Your questions answered

Can I add other materials to my Bridgwater delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from CLS timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What is the difference between CLS and planed timber?

CLS has rounded edges and is sized for studwork; planed all round timber has square edges and comes in many more sizes for joinery and trim.

Do you deliver CLS timber to trades and homeowners in Bridgwater?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

What does CLS stand for?

Canadian Lumber Standard. It refers to the way the timber is dried, planed and finished with rounded edges.
