Delivering carcassing timber in London
Timber is delivered in packs or bundles on a flatbed; long lengths need clear access along the drop point. London is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
- Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around EC1 are priced to the exact address.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
Choosing carcassing timber
C16 or C24?
C24 is stronger and stiffer, so it can span further or use a smaller section. Span tables and your structural drawings decide which grade and size you need.
Cut ends
Treat any cut ends with a suitable end-grain preservative, especially on external work.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
