Getting bricks onto your Stroud site

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Stroud is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

How much will you need?

Take a garden wall in Stroud 12 m long and 1.05 m high: 12.6 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 794 bricks, roughly 2 packs of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.74 tonnes of building sand and 7 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Questions about bricks delivery in Stroud

How are bricks delivered?

In strapped packs on a flatbed lorry, normally unloaded by the lorry's crane. Tell us where the packs can go and whether there are overhead cables, low branches or soft ground.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Stroud?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Do you sell bricks in small quantities?

We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.

Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Stroud?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
