Getting bricks onto your Herefordshire site

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Herefordshire.

  • Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Choosing bricks

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
