Getting the right adhesives and sealants

Ventilation

Some adhesives and foams give off fumes while curing; use them in a ventilated space.

Fire-stopping

Ordinary foam is not a fire stop. Where a fire seal is required use a tested fire-rated product and install it as tested.

Working out quantities for your Brierley Hill job

Sealing round 5 windows of about 1.2 × 1.2 m is roughly 24 m of joint. A 310 ml cartridge runs about 3 m of a 10 × 10 mm bead, so allow 8 cartridges of frame sealant.

Getting adhesives and sealants onto your Brierley Hill site

Boxed with the rest of your order. Brierley Hill is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
