Things to check before you order

Length

A rule of thumb is a fixing at least two and a half times the thickness of the piece you are fixing.

Structural fixings

Joist hangers, straps and structural connections need the fixings the connector maker specifies.

A quick quantity check

Fixing 40 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 1,400 drywall screws, or 2 boxes of 1,000.

Before your Coulsdon delivery arrives

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Coulsdon is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Screws & Nails questions

Can I add other materials to my Coulsdon delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from screws and nails to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do you sell nails for nail guns?

Yes, collated nails for common framing and finishing guns; tell us the gun model.

How long should a screw be?

As a rough guide, at least two and a half times the thickness of the material being fixed.
