Working out quantities for your Lisburn job

A 3 × 4 m room with one door has about 13.2 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 14.5 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Getting the right planed timber

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Delivering planed timber in Lisburn

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around BT27 are priced to the exact address.
• For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.

Common questions from Lisburn

Do you deliver planed timber to Lisburn?

Yes. We deliver across Lisburn, including BT27, BT28. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually. Send your list or call 0800 088 6341 and we will price it delivered to your postcode.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.

Why is my 2 × 4 smaller than 2 × 4 inches?

Timber is often named by its sawn size before planing. Once planed, it finishes smaller, so a nominal 2 × 4 is roughly 44 × 94 mm or less.

Can I add other materials to my Lisburn delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
