Things to check before you order

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Working out quantities for your Newtownabbey job

A 3.8 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 13.2 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 14.5 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Getting planed timber onto your Newtownabbey site

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around BT36 are priced to the exact address.
• In summer Newtownabbey gets around 17h 18m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
