Planning the drop in Kidsgrove

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Kidsgrove is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
• For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

A quick quantity check

A 4.2 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 14 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.4 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Things to check before you order

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Kidsgrove?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Do you deliver planed timber to trades and homeowners in Kidsgrove?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.
