Quantities: a worked example

A 3 × 3.6 m room with one door has about 12.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 13.6 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Before your Hertfordshire delivery arrives

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Hertfordshire.

• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.

Things to check before you order

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Your questions answered

Do you deliver planed timber to trades and homeowners in Hertfordshire?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Can I add other materials to my Hertfordshire delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
