Choosing planed timber

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

How much will you need?

A 3 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 14.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

How delivery works in Haywards Heath

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Haywards Heath is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around RH16 are priced to the exact address.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
