Working out quantities for your Cumbria job
A 3 × 4 m room with one door has about 13.2 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 14.5 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.
Planning the drop in Cumbria
Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Cumbria.
- Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
- Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
Things to check before you order
Softwood or MDF trim?
MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.
Nominal versus finished size
Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.
