How delivery works in Billericay

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Billericay is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• In summer Billericay gets around 16h 40m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.

A quick quantity check

A 3 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 11.6 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 12.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Getting the right planed timber

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Common questions from Billericay

Do you deliver planed timber to trades and homeowners in Billericay?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Billericay?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
