How delivery works in Hucknall

Boards are light but bulky; they travel in wrapped packs and should be stored flat and dry. Hucknall is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • In summer Hucknall gets around 16h 56m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.

Sizing your order

Insulating 16 m² of rafters, floor or wall takes 6 boards of 2400 × 1200 mm including offcuts. The thickness depends on the U-value you need, so check it before you order. Try the insulation calculator

Before you order PIR insulation boards

Thickness for the U-value

The thickness you need depends on the U-value the building regulations require and the rest of the build-up. Manufacturers publish U-value tables; your designer or building control will confirm.

Sealing joints

Tape the joints with foil tape so the foil layer works as a continuous vapour control layer where the design relies on it.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Your questions answered

Can you deliver PIR insulation boards to a site with restricted access in Hucknall?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

How many PIR boards do I need?

Divide the area by 2.88 m² (one 2400 × 1200 board) and add about 5 to 10 percent for cutting.

Is PIR better than mineral wool?

PIR insulates more per millimetre, so it suits tight spaces. Mineral wool is non-combustible, cheaper per square metre and better for sound.

Can I add other materials to my Hucknall delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from PIR insulation boards to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
