Picking the right product

Which flooring?

P5 chipboard flooring is the standard moisture-resistant floor deck. 18 mm is common at 400 mm joist centres and 22 mm at 600 mm centres, but follow the maker's span table.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Planning the drop in Rayleigh

• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• With roughly 7h 49m of daylight in Rayleigh around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
