Before you order OSB, MDF and chipboard

Which flooring?

P5 chipboard flooring is the standard moisture-resistant floor deck. 18 mm is common at 400 mm joist centres and 22 mm at 600 mm centres, but follow the maker's span table.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Before your Newtownards delivery arrives

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around BT23 are priced to the exact address.
• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.

OSB, MDF & Chipboard in Newtownards: questions

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can OSB get wet?

OSB3 copes with humid conditions and short exposure during construction, but it should not be left in the rain for long or used where it stays wet.

Can I add other materials to my Newtownards delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from OSB, MDF and chipboard to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What size are flooring boards?

Chipboard flooring is commonly 2400 × 600 mm with tongue-and-groove on all four edges.
