Cutting MDF safely

MDF dust is fine; cut with extraction and wear suitable respiratory protection.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Working out quantities for your Bath job

Decking 36 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 14 sheets including 10% for cutting. In P5 chipboard flooring (2400 × 600 mm) the same floor takes 28 boards.

Delivery to Bath: what helps

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Bath is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
