MOT Type 1 Sub-base: choosing well
Virgin or recycled?
Recycled Type 1 can be a good option where it meets the specification; ask what your project or local authority requires.
Compaction
Lay and compact in layers with a plate compactor. Allow extra material because it compacts down.
How delivery works in Oxford
Bulk bags are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; very large quantities can be priced as loose tipped loads where access allows. Oxford is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around OX1 are priced to the exact address.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
MOT Type 1 Sub-base in Oxford: questions
How deep should a driveway sub-base be?
Around 150 mm of compacted MOT Type 1 is common for domestic drives on firm ground; soft ground or heavier vehicles need more. Follow your installer or the paving maker's guidance.
Can you tip it loose?
For larger quantities we can price a loose tipped load if the lorry can reach and there is space to tip.
Can you deliver MOT Type 1 to a site with restricted access in Oxford?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Can I add other materials to my Oxford delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from MOT Type 1 to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
