Picking the right product

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Before your Oxford delivery arrives

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Oxford is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around OX1 are priced to the exact address.
  • On busy streets in Oxford, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Working out quantities for your Oxford job

Take a garden wall in Oxford 10 m long and 1.05 m high: 10.5 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 662 bricks, roughly 2 packs of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.62 tonnes of building sand and 6 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Bricks questions

Which bricks go below the damp-proof course?

Below DPC you need bricks that cope with constant damp and frost: engineering bricks, or clay facings declared F2 and S2. Concrete bricks are another option for below-ground work.

Do you sell bricks in small quantities?

We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Oxford?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Oxford?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
