Steel & Concrete Lintels for Stirling, delivered to site

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

SK Trade prices lintels delivered to Stirling and the rest of Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

  • Prestressed concrete lintelsPlain concrete lintels for inner leaves and internal openings.

How delivery works in Stirling

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Stirling is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • In summer Stirling gets around 17h 39m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

Quantities: a worked example

For a 1,500 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,800 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Before you order lintels

Which lintel for my opening?

Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or the council's building standards service to confirm.

Do I need a cavity tray?

Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Steel & Concrete Lintels in Stirling: questions

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Stirling?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Are steel lintels insulated?

Cavity wall steel lintels usually have insulation inside to cut heat loss at the opening. Single-leaf and box lintels may not.

Do you deliver lintels to trades and homeowners in Stirling?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can you tell me which lintel to use?

We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through the council's building standards service.
