Order lintels for delivery in Falkirk

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

Whether it is a repair, an extension or a new build in Falkirk, we can supply the lintels and deliver to site.

Choosing from our lintels range

  • PadstonesConcrete pads that spread the load at the ends of beams and lintels.
  • Heavy-duty and extra-heavy lintelsFor openings carrying floors or a lot of masonry.
  • Cavity trays and stop endsTo shed water out of the cavity over openings.
  • Steel cavity wall lintelsInsulated galvanised lintels that support both leaves of a cavity wall.
  • Single-leaf and box lintelsFor solid walls, timber frame and internal walls.

Picking the right product

Which lintel for my opening?

Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or the council's building standards service to confirm.

Steel or concrete?

Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Planning the drop in Falkirk

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Falkirk is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • On busy streets in Falkirk, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Working out quantities for your Falkirk job

For a 1,800 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 2,100 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Ordering lintels for Falkirk: FAQs

What is a padstone for?

It spreads a concentrated load, such as the end of a beam, over a larger area of masonry so the blocks or bricks underneath are not crushed.

Are steel lintels insulated?

Cavity wall steel lintels usually have insulation inside to cut heat loss at the opening. Single-leaf and box lintels may not.

Can I add other materials to my Falkirk delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from lintels to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Falkirk?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
