Damp Proofing & Membranes delivered across Merseyside

Damp proofing materials stop moisture rising or passing through a building: a damp-proof course (DPC) in the walls and a damp-proof membrane (DPM) under the floor.

Across Merseyside, from Liverpool to Halewood, we supply damp proofing delivered to site with the price and date confirmed in writing.

Quantities: a worked example

An extension in Merseyside with 12 m of cavity wall needs DPC in both leaves: about 1 roll in 30 m lengths once laps are allowed for. A 50 m² floor slab needs about 57.5 m² of DPM including laps, which is 1 roll of 4 × 25 m sheeting.

How delivery works in Merseyside

Rolls are light enough to travel with a mixed load and are handed off at the kerb. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Merseyside.

  • If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Choosing damp proofing

Is radon protection needed?

Parts of the UK need radon protection in new buildings and extensions. UKHSA radon maps show the areas; building control will tell you what applies.

DPC width

Match the DPC width to the wall leaf so it runs the full width of the masonry.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Damp Proofing & Membranes in Merseyside: questions

How thick should a DPM be?

1200-gauge polythene, around 300 microns, is a common specification for floor slabs. Your design may call for something different.

How soon can damp proofing be delivered in Merseyside?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Can you deliver damp proofing to a site with restricted access in Merseyside?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do I need a radon barrier?

It depends on where you are. In radon-affected areas building control requires radon protection in new buildings and extensions.
