Damp Proofing & Membranes for Cambridge, delivered to site
Damp proofing materials stop moisture rising or passing through a building: a damp-proof course (DPC) in the walls and a damp-proof membrane (DPM) under the floor.
From CB2 to CB2, we price damp proofing delivered to Cambridge and confirm the drop point and date when you order.

Before your Cambridge delivery arrives
Rolls are light enough to travel with a mixed load and are handed off at the kerb. Cambridge is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
- On busy streets in Cambridge, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
- Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
Quantities: a worked example
An extension in Cambridge with 16 m of cavity wall needs DPC in both leaves: about 2 rolls in 30 m lengths once laps are allowed for. A 40 m² floor slab needs about 46 m² of DPM including laps, which is 1 roll of 4 × 25 m sheeting.
Choosing damp proofing
Is radon protection needed?
Parts of the UK need radon protection in new buildings and extensions. UKHSA radon maps show the areas; building control will tell you what applies.
Laps and joints
DPM and DPC need generous laps and sealed joints; follow the manufacturer's guidance.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Damp Proofing & Membranes questions
Can I add other materials to my Cambridge delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from damp proofing to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
Where does the DPC go?
Usually at least 150 mm above outside ground level, linked to the floor DPM.
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Cambridge?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
How thick should a DPM be?
1200-gauge polythene, around 300 microns, is a common specification for floor slabs. Your design may call for something different.
