Concrete & Aircrete Blocks delivery in Doncaster

Concrete blocks are large masonry units, normally 440 × 215 mm on face, that lay at about 10 blocks per square metre; they come as dense aggregate, lightweight aggregate or aircrete (aerated) blocks.

SK Trade prices concrete blocks delivered to Doncaster and the rest of South Yorkshire, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

Choosing from our concrete blocks range

  • Block paving and edgingsOn request alongside your sub-base and sand.
  • Lightweight aggregate blocksLighter to handle with better thermal performance than dense blocks.
  • Hollow and cellular blocksLighter dense blocks with voids, used for some garden and retaining walls.
  • Dense concrete blocksHeavy, strong blocks for loadbearing walls, below ground and good sound separation.
  • Aircrete (aerated) blocksVery light, easy to cut and good insulators; check the strength grade for loadbearing work.

Before your Doncaster delivery arrives

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Doncaster is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.

Estimating your concrete blocks

A single-skin block wall in Doncaster 8 m long and 2.7 m high is 21.6 m². At 10 blocks per square metre plus 5% you need 227 blocks, with about 0.31 tonnes of building sand and 3 bags of cement for the mortar at 1:4. Try the block calculator

Things to check before you order

Handling heavy blocks

Health and safety guidance discourages laying very heavy blocks by hand for long periods. Lighter blocks or planning the lift can make a big difference on site.

What strength do I need?

Most houses use 3.6 N/mm² or 7.3 N/mm² blocks. Your structural design, your building control officer or the block manufacturer's guidance sets the grade; tell us what is specified and we will match it.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Concrete & Aircrete Blocks questions

What is the difference between 3.6 and 7.3 N/mm² blocks?

The number is the compressive strength. 7.3 N/mm² blocks carry more load and are often specified below ground or for heavily loaded walls; 3.6 N/mm² is common for upper storeys and partitions. Follow your drawings.

Do you deliver concrete blocks to trades and homeowners in Doncaster?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Are aircrete blocks strong enough for an extension?

Many aircrete blocks are designed for loadbearing walls, but grades differ. Check the strength your design calls for and the manufacturer's guidance on use below DPC.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Doncaster?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
