Before your Southport delivery arrives

Bulk bags are usually crane-lifted onto a drive or kerb where the vehicle and access allow; small bags travel with a mixed load. Southport is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

Colour of mortar

Building sand colour changes the mortar colour. For matching existing joints, a sample is worth it.

Covering bulk bags

Cover bags to stop sand drying out or getting saturated, and keep it clean of debris.

Estimating your sand

A 15 m² floor screed at 65 mm is 0.98 m³: about 1.56 tonnes of sharp sand at a 1:4 mix, or 2 bulk bags at around 850 kg each, plus the cement. Try the sand calculator

Questions about sand delivery in Southport

How much sand do I need for a screed?

Multiply the floor area by the screed depth to get cubic metres, then allow about 1.6 tonnes of sharp sand per cubic metre plus cement at your mix. Our sand calculator does the sums.

Can I add other materials to my Southport delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from sand to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What is the difference between building sand and sharp sand?

Building (soft) sand is fine and makes smooth mortar for laying bricks. Sharp sand is coarser, drains better and is used in concrete, screeds and paving beds.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Southport?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
