How delivery works in Rotherham

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Rotherham is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around S60 are priced to the exact address.
  • In summer Rotherham gets around 17h 01m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

Take a garden wall in Rotherham 4 m long and 0.9 m high: 3.6 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 227 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.21 tonnes of building sand and 2 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Things to check before you order

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Your questions answered

Do you sell bricks in small quantities?

We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.

How many bricks are in a square metre?

With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Rotherham?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Can you deliver bricks to a site with restricted access in Rotherham?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
