Things to check before you order

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Before your Banbury delivery arrives

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Banbury is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.

Sizing your order

Take a garden wall in Banbury 6 m long and 1.2 m high: 7.2 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 454 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.43 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Common questions from Banbury

Can you deliver bricks to a site with restricted access in Banbury?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do you sell bricks in small quantities?

We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.

Can you match my existing bricks?

Often, yes. Send the brick name if you have it, or a daylight photo of a clean face with a tape measure for scale. We will look for the nearest match in current ranges and can usually arrange a sample before you commit to a full order.

How soon can bricks be delivered in Banbury?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
