How delivery works in Crawley

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Crawley is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Getting the right bricks

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Sizing your order

Take a garden wall in Crawley 6 m long and 1.05 m high: 6.3 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 397 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.37 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Your questions answered

Can you match my existing bricks?

Often, yes. Send the brick name if you have it, or a daylight photo of a clean face with a tape measure for scale. We will look for the nearest match in current ranges and can usually arrange a sample before you commit to a full order.

How much mortar do 1,000 bricks need?

Roughly half a cubic metre of mixed mortar, which is about 1 tonne of building sand and 8 to 9 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Our brick calculator works it out for your wall.

Can you deliver bricks to a site with restricted access in Crawley?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can I add other materials to my Crawley delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from bricks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
