Delivering ballast and gravel in Ayrshire
Bulk bags are usually lifted off by crane where access allows; tell us where they can sit and whether the ground is firm. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Ayrshire.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
Things to check before you order
Gravel size
20 mm gravel suits concrete and drainage layers; 10 mm and pea gravel suit bedding pipes and paths.
Decorative areas
Lay decorative gravel over a weed membrane and a firm base so it does not sink.
Ordering ballast and gravel for Ayrshire: FAQs
Do you deliver ballast in bags?
Yes, bulk bags for most jobs and small bags for small quantities or tight access.
Can you deliver ballast and gravel to a site with restricted access in Ayrshire?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
How much gravel do I need for a path?
Multiply the area by the depth (often 40 to 50 mm for decorative gravel) to get cubic metres, then allow about 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre.
How soon can ballast and gravel be delivered in Ayrshire?
We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
