Structural fixings

Joist hangers, straps and structural connections need the fixings the connector maker specifies.

Length

A rule of thumb is a fixing at least two and a half times the thickness of the piece you are fixing.

Getting screws and nails onto your Welling site

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Welling is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• In summer Welling gets around 16h 38m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.

Sizing your order

Fixing 25 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 875 drywall screws, or 1 box of 1,000.
