Before you order screws and nails

Length

A rule of thumb is a fixing at least two and a half times the thickness of the piece you are fixing.

Inside or outside?

Use galvanised, coated or stainless fixings outdoors and with treated timber, so they do not corrode.

Quantities: a worked example

Fixing 40 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 1,400 drywall screws, or 2 boxes of 1,000.

Delivering screws and nails in Hinckley

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Hinckley is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.

Common questions from Hinckley
