A rule of thumb is a fixing at least two and a half times the thickness of the piece you are fixing.

How much will you need?

Fixing 30 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 1,050 drywall screws, or 2 boxes of 1,000.

Getting screws and nails onto your Brynmawr site

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Brynmawr is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.

Screws & Nails in Brynmawr: questions

What screws for plasterboard?

Drywall screws: coarse thread for timber studs, fine thread or self-drilling for metal.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Brynmawr?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Do you deliver screws and nails to trades and homeowners in Brynmawr?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can I use ordinary screws with treated timber?

Outdoors, use galvanised, coated or stainless fixings to avoid corrosion.
