Structural fixings

Joist hangers, straps and structural connections need the fixings the connector maker specifies.

Length

A rule of thumb is a fixing at least two and a half times the thickness of the piece you are fixing.

Delivery to Barnsley: what helps

Boxed fixings travel with the rest of your order. Barnsley is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Working out quantities for your Barnsley job

Fixing 15 sheets of plasterboard at about 35 screws a sheet uses 525 drywall screws, or 1 box of 1,000.
