Before you order roofing materials

Fixing requirements

BS 5534 sets out how tiles must be fixed against wind uplift, which in most cases means every tile is mechanically fixed. Ask for the fixing specification with your tiles.

Matching an existing roof

The profile, size and colour all matter. A photo of the tile and a measurement of its exposed face help us find the closest current product.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Sizing your order

A 55 m² roof slope needs roughly 550 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 3,300 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.

How delivery works in Stenhousemuir

Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Stenhousemuir is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• In summer Stenhousemuir gets around 17h 38m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
